2017 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:

The CT Black and Puerto Rican Caucus — Rep. Wilfred X. “Spike” Johnson Scholarship is now available. Rep. Johnson was the first African American elected to Connecticut’s State House of Representatives to represent our Capitol City of Hartford in 1958 and served for four terms.

The eligibility criteria for the scholarship is as follows;

1.) The scholarship is available to graduating African American or Puerto Rican / Latino high school senior or college students.

2.) High school student must possess a GPA of at least a C+ (75) or better,

3.) College student must possess a 2.5 GPA or above, and must meet all other stated criteria

4.) Preference will be given to residents of Black and Puerto Rican / Latino Caucus members’ legislative districts.

5.) All recipients must be full time students; this is a one-time scholarship award.
