Why Marching Bands Need BAND!
Any music director knows that organizing your students and coordinating with parents can be one of the toughest aspects of your job. We recently got in touch with Chris Nolan, El Capitan High School’s marching band director, who shared that BAND has been helpful in organizing their rapidly expanding program. Before using Band, Chris ran into issues keeping all of his members on the same page; simple schedule changes were hard to communicate to the group of 75+ members.
Now with features such as the community board and group calendar, Chris and his assistant director Gina are able to keep all of their students in the loop on their practices and events. The app also allows parents to give input and share photos with other members. Push notifications effectively help Chris and his team send urgent messages to all members, keeping their group on track amidst last minute changes and the file-sharing functionality allows them to easily send important documents like permission slips and forms out to parents and students.
Dean, a sophomore at El Capitan High School, has been a member of the marching band for two years and plays the Saxophone. He loves being apart of the program because it has helped him build confidence as a musician and his social skills. He loves using BAND to stay connected with other members off the field; in fact he enjoys using the app so much that he created a Band to communicate with his friends. BAND provides tools for hard working teachers like Chris and Gina to keep their students organized, parents informed, and strengthen bonds within their community!
Communication is the first step to organize groups!
