It’s terribly naive to think you can just implement excellent policy without taking stock of your POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT.
People like Buhari, the Fulani generally, are FEUDAL in their orientation. They believe in an all powerful government that controls everything and DISPENSES to each according to their needs.
That’s the REAL problem with Buhari and his type. They have no CULTURAL INCLINATION toward market economics. That should have been taken into account before voting for this President. Were you alive and of adult age in 1983? Buhari used these same policies back then. Goes to show that CULTURE is a hard thing to change.
In Nigeria’s under developed institutions, the CBN always takes its marching cues from the Federal Government. That’s a fact of life.
As for Jonathan, I can tell you this — he was far more market oriented than Buhari and APC.
Evidence — he abolished fuel subsidies. The rejection of that policy by THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE is the main cause of the present economic problems. And they were told in very specific terms by Ministers in the last government that the present situation would be the result of continuing with fuel subsidies.
Compare that to Buhari that is planning to re-establish Nigeria Airways.
So those of you FREE MARKETERS trying to teach Buhari a new ideology are simply engaged in futility.
Thanks!
