Lin, who is seen as one of Taiwan’s best boxers in the championships, won a unanimous 3–0 decision in a match that she dominated from the opening bell. Throughout the three-round match, Lin proved to be the aggressor, stalking Villas and pinning her against the ropes. Lin threw several effective punches and by the final round, Villas appeared fatigued. The judges unanimously awarded the match to Lin, who is a student at Taipei Municipal YuCheng High School. After the match, she said she was used to fighting taller opponents and was not intimidated by Villas’ height advantage. Lin also said she felt quite at ease competing in an international-level championship. “I’m an only child, and my family did not support my decision to pursue boxing, but I am delighted to secure a victory today with them watching on the sidelines.” she said. Lin’s coach Liu Tsung-tai said she gave an admirable performance, showing excellent reflexes, parrying and evading her opponent’s punches, and taking advantage of openings to throw counter punches. Most importantly, Lin did a good job of pacing herself to avoid running out of steam, Tsai said.
