Galavant S2:E1 Recap
S2: E1
A New Season aka Suck it Cancellation Bear
Guest Stars: Sophie McShera as Gwen; Hugh Bonneville as the Pirate King; John Stamos as Jean Hamm; Kylie Minogue as The Queen; Simon Williams as Uncle Keith;

Galavant is sporting some serious Errol Flynn…everything and about to give one of his infamous speeches but he’s interrupted by Richard, whom he’s become increasingly protective of, as he’s the very picture of unaware and probably even more sheltered than we originally thought.
Richard has massive sea sickness and begs Galavant to sing THE SONG to make him feel better. However Peter tells him that he’ll murder the hell out of them both if they do. This leads to Peter and the pirates kicking off A New Season wherein all of our cast get to check in with what’s been happening to them.
Richard is freaked that he not only shipwrecked the pirates but he then leads them into the Enchanted Forest where his ‘Uncle’ Keith went in and never came out. Of course they promptly get kidnapped by The Queen of said forest and end up working for her as bartenders and eye candy.
However it turns out his Uncle Keith didn’t quite die and he helps Galavant and Richard escape.

Izzy is still trapped by creepy Harry despite trying pretty much everything to get out. Her parents are weirdly okay with this marriage, even though her mom admits she kind of grew to like Galavant but her dad’s like, ‘I’m not paying for the whole wedding so it’s your cousin you’re marrying’.
She looks fly as hell though, so there’s that….

Cook is giddy over his new awesome kitchen that Harry has set him up with. He still adores Isabella though so he and Gwen plot to give the guards some sleepy time pie to get Isabella the keys to get out.
Gwen is happy to not be covered in fleas and that Cook has no problem with them keeping one girl child, but the rest are to be given to the white walkers.

Steve is working as Harry’s new Jester and loving it.

Gareth is not feeling being Madalena’s consort and very focused on Sid, who he recruits to help him figure out whether on not Madalena is truly queen and what his place is in the mess. Sid does, of course, and Gareth is king. He and Madalena now have to figure out how they both feel about that.
Sid is just confused about what his place is in the hierarchy of Madalena and Gareth’s kingdom and ends up being their executive assistant. I can’t see how that won’t end up poorly.

Madalena is as terrible of a ruler as one would expect as her solution to everything is murder. She’s also plotting to invade the other seven kingdoms so that, at least, should be interesting.
Overall, as I said in my review, it was a good table setting premiere, we’ll see if it can move forward and build as well as it did last year.
