Day 8–1 Peter

God cares about you

Okay, so technically it’s after midnight, but I’m still awake. And it’s still Wednesday in Hawaii anyway. So it still counts, by royal decree! ☺

The other day, I shared on here that I’ve been struggling with being anxious about finding God’s will with my life, and that Matthew 6 showed me that what I need to do is focus my life on God’s Kingdom and Righteousness, and everything I need to bring him glory will be given to me.

Well, tonight, in Cru (the campus Christian group that my wife and I attend), a local Pastor preached from… you guessed it, Matthew 6. So I sat and listened closely for what God was saying through him, because obviously God really wants me to hear from Matthew 6. And the thing I was struck with the most is that God cares about me.

It’s really easy (for me anyway) to remember that I need to seek God. After all, I’m a pretty horrible human being. I disappoint myself and/or others every single day. Of course I need to seek God! But the part that’s easy to forget is that God also cares about me and wants an intimate relationship with me.

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6–7 NKJV

I’m not supposed to be proud and try to go it alone. If I submit to God, and cast my cares on Him, he will exalt me in due time, because he cares for me.

10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 5:10–11 NKJV

Even though I’ll suffer on this Earth, God cares for me, and he will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle me. You can’t beat that promise.
