BHB Official Statement on Chiasso’s Bitcoin adoption

On September 7th 2017, after an official meeting with the local community of experts and entrepreneurs, the town hall of Chiasso (Switzerland) announced their will to participate in the creation of the BHB Network Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed to nurture the best open source ideas, researches and projects related to blockchain technologies, with a particular focus on the Bitcoin protocol.

The city of Chiasso realised the importance of investing and being pioneers in this revolutionary technology, paving its road to become a de-facto international excellence centre in this field: all of this would not have been possible without the work of BHB Network, a research and development reality active in Switzerland as well as in Italy, South Africa and Canada.

Starting from October 2017, they will host regular meetups dedicated to the Bitcoin technology, with the participation of international experts and developers. The town hall also announced that they will allow their citizens to pay taxes using Bitcoin from January 2018: this is the second town in Switzerland that allows Bitcoin payments for municipality services, after the adoption by Zug last year, and the first for accepted amount.

We strongly believe that such initiatives should be well welcomed as instrumental to the mass adoption of Bitcoin and related technologies, while Chiasso has now a huge opportunity to propel itself to a brilliant future. There is of course still plenty of room for all the other institutions, entities and business ventures that would like to follow this great model.
