A Great Big #HolidayBINJ Thank You
Party a success despite mass transit failure
It was sometime in October when we decided to throw a blowout holiday soiree in December. The thinking was simple: We’re an organization that’s been around all of four months, so we should totally compete with the countless other charities here in the land of nonprofits that are also asking for your limited holiday funds and a few hours to mingle.
A presumptuous endeavor or not, we’re thrilled to say that our first-ever #HolidayBINJ was a success. We cleared more than $1,500 after expenses that will go to fund independent journalism, facilitated all kinds of connections between creatives and supporters from small business settings, and showed the city that our parties just keep getting bigger and more fun.
There are far too many thanks to give, so we’ll just say that we appreciate all the sponsors, those who came out for the cause, our party planner Val at L.I.R. Productions, Louie and Lisa Bello for performing, and Naga for putting up with us. And of course everyone who donated gifts; they’re listed below, so please check them out and support.
Without going on and on, we’ll finish by saying that we’re proud to have beaten the wrath of the Red Line, which broke down in the middle of our party, resulting in dozens of tweets and emails from readers and friends who couldn’t make it. We’re especially sorry for those who prepaid for tickets, but we pledge to service any gifts you were promised.
If you’re one of the many people who have so kindly contacted us asking how you can still support BINJ this holiday season despite missing the party, you can make a donation in a matter of seconds by clicking our $Cashtag …
Or you can subscribe to the Boston Bubble, our premium print quarterly on tech and innovation in Greater Boston, and get the new issue coming out next year before anyone else. Makes for a great stocking stuffer too …
