On Leftist “It’s private property so it doesn’t apply” free speech arguments and “Totes-Real-Nazis-This-Time” being deplatformed
If I have to see XKCD comic on freedom of speech once more time I swear I… sigh.
Since It seems impossible to make this point through, I’ll talk as if anything and everything to the right of Lenin was nazis, to make sure I don’t leave any spot. Because this applies to everyone, not only people with reasonable arguments in the center, but also to extremists such as Nazis or Communists.
Stop equating speech with violence. If you can justify why it wouldn’t be violence if you changed the target or the speaker then it’s probably not violence.
You need to speak with nazis. Not only you need it, but the nazis need it too. It will be healthier for everyone, I promise. You might not like to think they’re redeemeable, and at the same time you like to think it’s impossible for them to say something truthful.
Nazis need to speak out their arguments, so it’s possible for those arguments to be destroyed. You might not swerve them out of their path of “muh heritage” but you might quell their anger, and you might make other people less mistified by their words. If you don’t see why this is needed: think of the young kids that start smoking even if parents tells them to not do it. There’s something deep inside of some people testing the limits and chasing danger. A lot of people don’t want to be told what to do, and I’m sure a huge chunk of these people will turn into Nazis if they seem like the guys that rebel against everyone trying to shut them down.
And you need those arguments to be heard, because at some point, you too will say something horrible, and you will need your arguments to be sorted out. (I personally consider, you should be treated as a Nazi if at some point even retweeted any identity politics talking point, good grief I’m not like identity politics cultist, don’t you think?). Any tool you make to make sure nazis don’t speak will not be contained. It will backfire.
Why some part of the population(post modern neo-marxists) is so scared and upset of this idea?
It’s because they are part of a faction that wants to mix several issues under the same argument, some of their issues are strong(How about we don’t judge people based on the color of their skin) and some are weak(Any claim over leftists actually understanding how economy works), so they fear to lose an argument against a Nazi.
How about we stop doing that? Anyone that truly cares about freedom of speech understands this. This is the whole point, just because you’re “progressive” doesn’t mean all your “progressive” ideas are good. In fact, you don’t know how to run a government and you would probably get us impoverished and killed, so what the hell do you know?
Some people seem totally oblivious to this. Censoring, shaming, silencing, deplatforming only has the opposite effect, and rightly so. Continue doubling down and you will not only wake up with a separated European union, and with Trumps america. You will wake up in a world where the things you ARE right about will be righly assumed as falsehoods, because if we’re forced to judge all your ideas at the same time, then by average it’s better to assume all of your ideas are bad, since in real life, very few people actually have their good ideas outnumber their bad ones.
Bad ideas are the ones that needs to be aired the most. Not only by speaking them out loud, but by allowing debate over them. If this seems so hard, then perhaps you don’t even know why nazis are wrong. And you should worry about that, that means you don’t understand history at all, and it probably is part of the reason you think shutting down people is a good idea.
So, the next time you see a Nazi, instead of trying to make sure he doesn’t speak, how about you make sure you know your facts through and through to the point it’s impossible for them to tell you that the holocaust didn’t happen and that zyklon b was just a brand of beberage popular during the war.
