No serious scholar worth their merit takes the Black Book of Communism seriously.

There is no doubting the atrocities committed by temporary dictators, to which was justified through socialist rhetoric. However, to claim that this is the socialism and communism to which was espoused by Marx and Engels, that would be equivalent to me claiming that Pinochet’s rule over Chile was a direct representation of Adam Smith’s capitalism.

The Black Book of Communism is grossly inaccurate. It’s one thing to highlight the monstrous actions committed my leaders like Stalin, Mao, Etc. It’s a whole other thing to use this understanding to prop up hyped, ahistorical, erroneous stories.
