My one thing is to prepare myself for salary negotiations for the new job, which are maybe happening today or tomorrow. The small law firm I work for is closing/“merging” into a bigger firm, and the new place is trying to get the best of both worlds — starting everyone from scratch on vacation time/eligibility for raises, bonuses, FMLA, etc., but then using our current salaries instead of starting from scratch on those negotiations. It would take a 30% raise to get me to a fair salary at the new place (according to a recruiter, not just based on my opinion), partially because my current job is a lot less intense (in terms of hours/billing requirements, mainly) and because I started this job a year ago with no direct experience in this area of law so it was a completely different scenario. So ready for this to be a big battle and need to psych myself up/arm myself with info to make it go as smoothly as possible.
