Flare Network is a data provisioning network which launched in January 2023 and is currently in “Beta Mode.” Following the deployment of additional network protocols, Flare will allow developers to connect and instantly access data collected on the internet. Flare Network intends to provide access to various types of data including price feeds for crypto pairs, sports scores, gaming data, weather data, stock prices, credit rates and more.
Over the past two years, many projects have discussed future plans to utilize Flare Network’s technology. While some of these projects have expressed future interest, others have already launched on Songbird, Flare Network’s “Canary Network.” Below is a list of projects building on Flare Network:
FLR Finance
FLR Finance announced their intention to build on Flare Network shortly after Flare’s initial public announcement. Additionally, FLR Finance deployed ExFi (Experimental Finance) on Songbird Network in order to allow users to test and experiment with their products prior to Flare’s launch. Both ExFi and FLR Finance will use product specific tokens for governance, rewards and fee payments with additional token utility being added in the future. The EXFI and SFIN tokens are live on ExFi.
FLR Finance is made up of a team of computer scientists with a goal to create a DeFi (decentralized finance) economy on Flare with the intention to expand to a multi chain economy in the future. FLR Finance is designing several DeFi products including a loans platform, a decentralized exchange, liquidity farming and various NFT products.
Regarding NFTs, FLR Finance has created multiple innovative protocols allowing users to mint, buy/sell and raffle NFTs. Additionally, FLR Finance has designed a protocol (Ermis Protocol) to bridge the physical and digital worlds, allowing users to redeem NFTs for physical goods and products.
Currently, FLR Finance’s ExFi product is live on Songbird Network with plans to integrate a wrapping mechanism to allow non-Flare/Songbird assets to be used in ExFi in the near future. FLR Finance intends to launch on Flare Network in the coming weeks/months. Prior to their launch, FLR Finance will complete a snapshot of the network. FLR and EXFI token holders will be eligible to receive the FLR Finance token based on their wallet balance at the time of the snapshot.
Pangolin
Pangolin is a multi chain decentralized exchange. Pangolin offers advanced trading and finance tools, access to deep liquidity and an easy sign up experience. Pangolin is currently live on Flare, Songbird, Avalanche and Hedera.
Sparkles
Sparkles is an NFT marketplace which was originally launched on Songbird Network. Sparkles intends to create a marketplace which allows NFTs to be purchased with any token. For example, a piece of art minted as an NFT on Flare Network and listed on Sparkles could be purchased using Bitcoin, Doge or XRP. Sparkles has stated that more information on this feature will be made available soon. Additionally, Sparkles has partnered with many artists and projects to grow network usage including NETVRK, an industry leading Metaverse project.
GALA
Shortly after Flare’s launch announcement, Gala Games announced plans to partner with the network. At the time, Gala was a play to earn gaming project building on the Ethereum blockchain. Since their partnership announcement, Gala has launched their own blockchain and nodes. Additionally, multiple play to earn games have come to Gala, with Town Star, a Farmville style game, being the first.
Over the past year, Gala has expanded beyond gaming alone and into movies and music, including a music partnership with Snoop Dogg and his record label Death Row Records and a movie partnership with a studio owned by Mark Wahlberg and The Rock. While it is unclear how the Gala and Flare partnership will evolve in the future, it should be exciting to watch.
Fan Controlled Sports
Fan Controlled Sports announced their partnership with Flare in 2021. Intitially announced as a partnership between Fan Controlled Football and Flare, the Fan Controlled Franchise has since announced the launch of Fan Controlled Basketball and teased future plans for Fan Controlled Baseball.
Fan Controlled Sports is a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) which allows fans to vote on various aspects of their favorite sports games including rules, play selection and drafting players. The league boasts a roster of football legends and fan favorites including Johnny Manziel, Josh Gordon and Terrell Owens. Currently, Flare plans to provide NFT support for Fan Controlled Sports. Fan Controlled Sports has also partnered with IBM’s Watson, an AI for businesses product, with hints of an IBM Watson AI team coming in the future.
888: The New World
888 The New World is a digital art and gaming NFT marketplace built and run by artists. 888 The New World aims to empower artists with low fees and innovative curatorial teams. 888 The New World has partnered with multiple influencers, artists and projects including Gala Games and the Global Esports Federation.
