The Elephant in the Room

It’s National Elephant Day! Let’s talk about the elephant in my room. Or perhaps I should wait for National Giraffe Day!!! As you may or may not know I’m a consultant with the #1 Premium Skin Care Brand for Anti-Aging. My face is my business and it becomes everyone else’s business too! The reason why I decided to partner with Rodan + Fields is because of my my brown spots. Four years ago I may or may not have looked like a giraffe without makeup on. But we should all give ourselves a break! Or find a way to get help with what drives us crazy about ourselves. We have gyms to help us fit into our clothes better, and stay healthy. We have dentists to keep our teeth clean. Ice cream shops to help us when we have cravings . Why not use skincare to to take care of the number one thing people look at first when they meet you?

I used to get these terrible brown spots on my face from the sun. My family and I now live in an old farming community without many trees, I walk back and forth to school 4 times a day to get my kids so I’m in the sun for 80 minutes minimum every day. Yes I am praying for result of a tighter booty by spending those precious minutes in the sun with my kids as I’m walking them home and hearing about their day at school. Can’t we kill two birds with one stone? Okay back to the spots. I wear sunscreen and a hat but I still get those darn spots in the middle of the summer — it’s inevitable.

After walking the twins to school this morning, I was thinking about how this strong sun was going to do a number on my face when I happened to see one of the smartest women in the world. How did I know this woman was so brilliant without even saying one word to me? Well, her clothes said it all as well as Proverbs 31.25.

She was covered from head to toe in clothing and had the largest visor I had ever seen on her face. She truly cared about not getting any sun on her face while being outside. I noticed she was Asian. The Asian culture is very cautious about being exposed to sun and I admire that. This woman most likely had not one brown spot or hyper pigmentation on her entire body from the way she was dressed. She was wearing a hoodie and gloves in 85 degree weather. She must have been sweating to death. I admired her for not caring about what others thought. Of course here I am writing about this nice lady who was sweet enough to say, “Good Morning” to me after I had greeted her with the same kind of “hello.” Why am I highlighting this lady? She is an anomaly. I don’t know anyone else that would go to such great lengths to dress like this to avoid the sun. I think she is a trooper. Rodan + Fields will be launching into Asia shortly and it will be a huge hit of course to women who care so much about their brown spots, uneven pigmentation and anti-aging skin care.

Here’s another interesting fact in the world of skin care. According to an article in AsianScientist (Feb. 9, 2016) — “Unlike other industries buffeted by the winds of economic and socio-political change, the beauty and personal care industry has gone from strength to strength, earning it a “recession-proof” status. Nowhere is this more evident than in Asia, where sales are estimated to exceed US$150 billion as soon as 2017, according to data from market intelligence firm Euromonitor International.” Can you believe that!!! One hundred fifty BILLION dollars on skin care and personal beauty!!

If you feel like you have cover up those brown spots, let’s address the elephant in your living room. I do this business because I want to help people feel comfortable in the skin they are in. When you see the nice lady in Brentwood walking with her body clothed from head to toe, her sun visor about a foot out in front of her to cover her face, say a nice “hello.” She’s not crazy. She’s brilliant by protecting her skin, but it’s just not possible for most of us to do on a daily basis.
