Can We All Laugh At Each Other Please?

One of the worst aspects of the current state of political discourse, is the near total loss of humor. When you don’t laugh at one another, when you can’t take a joke, or take sarcasm as a point of humor, you contribute to our separation, and increase tension.

It really needs to end.

Recently this tweet went viral, and perfectly illustrated the annoying problem we are facing.

Although I am a libertarian, I’m not involved in the liberty movement in any way. I’m a guy who has never been at a conference, and has no close libertarian contemporaries I hang around with. I’m just a guy who writes blogs barely anyone reads. I have heard libertarian women complain about sexism within the philosophy, but since I’m in no inner circle I have no real idea how big of a problem it is, although I do suspect the lack of women involved in the liberty movement appears to be mostly about politics. However; operating under the assumption libertarians have a sexism problem, there needs to be stronger evidence presented than the above tweet; which was only an attempt at humor with nothing really malicious around it. A guy told libertarian women in jest to make sandwiches, he didn’t tell women they are too emotional or unintelligent to be in the liberty movement.

I follow Elizabeth Nolan Brown on social media; I have read many of her stories. Her work for Reason is exemplary, and I would consider myself a casual fan. She is not an SJW, but in this case I need to push back and express disappointment in her response, since her reaction to the joke follows the victimology playbook of the regressive left.

The woman making a sandwich joke is about as old as Bob Newhart. I can see how being a target of that joke would be annoying, since it lacks originality; maybe telling a woman to make a lasagna would go over better, but no one wins when you treat that joke like a rape threat. Instead of giving a joke back Brown encouraged others to retweet the joke so perspective employers can see it. Others attacked him for his supposed sexism, while others have rightfully condemned Brown for her initiation of a smear campaign.

A journalist, yet again is attempting to ruin a life because she can’t take a joke. A journalist needs to have thick skin, and a normal person needs to laugh at a joke.

Maybe Nolan Brown got pissed because she make a good sandwich and is constantly made fun of for it in her private life. Either way her reaction to the tweet was incredibly immature.

This controversy came a week after this infamous and semi-viral tweet, that compelled many leftists to jump on the hate men bandwagon.

After dozens of men and women called Duca out for her misandric tweet; she tweeted this out a few minutes after the obsolete men post.

So my question is; if wishing men become obsolete is a joke, why can’t telling a woman to make a sandwich be considered a joke?

The tweets came from two different women, from presumably two seperate ideologies, but those two women personify hypocrisy. Leftist feminists get inflamed with anger whenever a man tells a sexist joke, and when they tweet about the eradication of men they expect men to laugh at the joke. They don’t reciprocate the humor. Hell; no one does. Although the condemnation of humor originated from the left, who hold no patience for racial or sexist jokes, the alt-right is just as guilty.

In yet another example of some in the alt-right resorting to regressive left tactics, of shaming and righteous indignation, the supposely humorous right attacked Seth Rogan over a joke.

In June, when Antonio Foreman was stabbed nine times by radical leftists, the alt-Right used the case as another example as to how violent leftists are; and rightfully so. Then many on the right got triggered like the leftist snowflakes they mock, after Seth Rogan typed this tweet.

A look at Foreman and a look at Rogan shows they could play brothers in another Rogan stoner movie. Rogan’s joke was a play on those simularities, but that was completely lost on many in the right who acted like humorless children.

The American Mirror wrote, “Apparently, Rogen thought it would be funny to make fun of a man who is still in critical condition after he was stabbed 9 times simply for supporting Trump,” Before Makada Duncanson suggested, “This is more normalization of political violence from the left.”

To that, and anyone else who called the tweet, “Reprehensible,” I say boo fucking hoo.

The alt-Right is comprised of many people. Some with a sense of humor, some without. There are people in the alt-Right who are free speech absolutists, others who want to create the darkest memes known to man. We are talking about a group of people who create memes that make light of 9/11, and the Holocaust; who also create sexist and racist memes aimed to make people on their side laugh, while triggering the other side. The fact Paul Joseph Watson played the family card while condemning the tweet is laughable when you consider he works for a man who is a Sandy Hook truther.

No one wins, nor looks intelligent, morally superior, or rightous when we play this partisan game. No one is willing to explore a world outside their echo chamber, and we are worse off because of it. Most importantly we are humorless assholes.

Humor and sarcasm is a bonding experience. It also acts as a coping mechanism in result of all that ails our world. If we live our lives being victims, and being angry all the time, our existence is joyless.

So please, make humor great again.

I solemnly swear to laugh at a tweet calling for the eradication of men, when feminists laugh at jokes asking them why they are out of the kitchen.

I will laugh about white people supposedly not seasoning their chicken, if every black person laughs about the watermelon stereotype.

I will laugh about white people shooting up schools, if I can joke about black people not having fathers. I will allow you to make light of all my flaws, if I can joke about yours.

I will laugh about men not being able to find things in the house that are right in front of their eyes, when women laugh about not being able to decide what they want for dinner.

Laughter is the best medicine, and laughing at jokes makes our world more tolerable. It is no accident; nor is it shocking the growing divide increases everytime someone attacks another for telling a joke.

In conclusion; why does a bride wear white?

So the washer matches the dryer.

If you didn’t laugh, or at least chuckle, you’re a sad human being.
