It’s Not White Versus Black. Government Is The Force That Has Divided Us
We are conditioned to validate government. We are born into countries, cities, provinces, states, and counties that are ruled by a select few who make us believe that they have the skill, brains, and morality to make decisions about our lives. We are expected to appreciate and accept portions of our hard earned wages being stolen from us for the better good. We are told our tax dollars go to build schools, and roads, while a government that claims to support and endorse human rights gives our money to foreign governments that treat women and gays like pieces of human waste.
Our money goes to corporations that take our jobs overseas and pays us wages that barely keeps our heads above water, and politicians who claim to have our best interests at heart continue to vote for pay increases while they waste our tax dollars at times when every normal person has to make financial and personal sacrifices lawmakers don’t have to make.
Believing in the validity and morality of the state is a symptom of Stockholm Syndrome and is part of the widespread belief that government is a just arbiter of civility when history shows otherwise.
I was once a parishioner in the world’s most sinister religion; statism. My public school education brainwashed me with revisionist history and the belief my government was moral and cared for my well being. I was wrong. In practice government is a divisive force that picks winners and losers while perfectly pitting individuals against each other who use asinine signifiers to preach hatred and moral superiority.
Political discourse in the West does all the dirty work for government by pitting black against white, Christian against Muslim, gay against straight, men against women and our brainwashed minds absorb the crap perpetuated by media that accepts and supports policies and bills that makes us go to wars with each other.
In Canada a group of individuals didn’t decide it was moral to kidnapped Aboriginal children and teach them to be white. It was the Canadian government, with the help of the Catholic church that enacted a program of “aggressive assimilation” with the goal of eliminating Aboriginal culture and language under the idea that Aboriginals were better served to be English speaking Christians like the rest of the country. Many languages were eliminated as attendance was mandatory and any expression of their culture meant Aboriginal children were beaten. In total 150,000 children of Metis, First Nations, and Metis descent attended the schools, where many were sexually abused. What has culminated is a massive problem of addiction within the First Nations community. In one sample of residential school students, 75% of those who attended the school developed mental issues that included drug abuse; which makes sense since people who were abused as children are highly likely to develop addiction.
Residential schools are linked to The Indian Act which was enacted by the Canadian government to assimilate First Nations peoples into Canadian life. The Canadian government for decades have given Aboriginal tax dollars while banning private property ownership, which has bred a dependency on government that have eviscerated entrepreneurship and has caused many non Aboriginal Canadians to look poorly at First Nations peoples, which has created racist attitudes towards Aboriginals.
The regressive left will argue the racism is systemic, and is based on whites in Canada being trained to be racist towards Aboriginals. They say it’s systemic, but it is not. It was created, cultivated and pushed by government who wanted white Canadians to believe Aboriginals were inferior people. And that is the same exact situation in the United States of America.
As Eric July succinctly put in The Libertarian Republic, “the state has been historically used to oppress people of African descent.” In his piece titled, Considering History, African American Libertarianism Should Not Be Surprising, July correctly shows how the state passed legislation like slave codes, Jim Crow laws, and Supreme Court decisions to enslave and deny African Americans freedom. In fear of a slave uprising, colonies enacted slave codes which prevented slaves from owning property, assembling without a white person being present, and eliminated any rights in the courts. When the 13th amendment was ratified that ended slavery, it was government that enacted Jim Crow laws that were based on fear from poor whites losing their jobs to blacks. Instead of using the newfound freedom of slaves to push for racial unity, state governments enforced laws that granted whites special laws that didn’t apply to African Americans. Newspapers spread false stories about blacks committing crimes, and African Americans were prevented from sharing public transportation with whites, and were not granted the freedom to vote. Sadly, the American government was not done with their divisive legislation.
It is a known fact among those who have any knowledge of the criminalization of cannabis is linked to racism. At the height of racial division the government worked with the media to scare Americans into thinking black people were smoking cannabis and raping white women. America’s first drug czar Henry Anslinger used racist arguments like, “There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others,” to convince Americans to support the criminalization of cannabis. More than 80 years later, cannabis is still illegal, and the drug war that was put on steroids by Richard Nixon, disproportionately affects African Americans who are put in jail in numbers higher than white people despite identical usage numbers. The war on drugs has destroyed inner cities without educational and economic opportunities thanks to young African Americans being placed in jail and not providing for their families. Without good jobs gang life has thrived, thanks to the drug trade, and with that those who live in the inner cities are shooting and killing each other in large numbers.
These governments may be predominantly white, but with government holding the most influence and power in both countries, they have used the media to spread fear mongering and lies that have divided us through our different races, religions, and genders. It is government that has overthrown democratically elected leaders all over the world and installed despots in Latin America and the Middle East that helped create terrorism that has killed thousands and fanned bigotry. It was government that deemed women inhumane; preventing them from voting. It is government that has laid the groundwork for bigotry.
The regressive left; who are so obsessed with identity politics that they may soon start boiling pet rabbits, insist the issues are based solely on race. That is factually inaccurate. Every single divisive issue originated in government and was spread like a virus by mainstream media, who have been in bed with government from the start. We have been brainwashed into thinking we are inferior or superior to others who don’t share our skin color, sexuality, or religion. To increase power you have to convince the electorate they are victims, and only government can save them, and that is exactly what has happened.
While the regressive left pushes for even bigger government to eradicate bigotry, they are conveniently ignoring the historical fact that government is the reason why bigotry has existed throughout our histories. Without slavery, residential schools, Jim Crow and the war on drugs, bigotry would be diminished to the point where it’s existence is barely noticed, but thanks to these laws, and their implications, bigotry is alive and well. The answer is to ignore the divisive media outlets like Salon, Mic, Alternet, and The Huffington Post, and to stop being brainwashed by governments who insist a certain bill will act as the magic elixir to eradicate bigotry. You wouldn’t trust a rapist to stop rape, so you shouldn’t trust government to end bigotry, because bigotry and fear is what government needs to grow.
We are all individuals who want liberty, life and to pursue happiness. Our identifiable traits should not divide us or make enemies of each other. The disease known as statism is not treatable through over the counter drugs and a change of diet. It is diminished through education and the rejection of the elitist voices within government and the media that has convinced us for far too long government knows what is right and wrong, and our individual characteristics grant us liberty over others. To spread bigotry is to give government more power, to give the state more power is to reduce freedom and divide us to the point where harmony will never exist.
