The death sentence of Mohammad Qobadlo, a young protester who was arrested and imprisoned during anti-government protests in Iran, has been confirmed by the 1st Branch of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Amnesty International had previously said that Mohammad Qobadlou received a death sentence after “extremely unfair trials and under torture”.

According to this human rights institution, the trial process is fundamentally flawed due to the reliance on confessions obtained under torture and the failure to order accurate mental health evaluations despite the mental disorder.
