Yes! It’s BORNEO SABAH!

Sang Nyuk Mee

Sang Nyuk Mee

Sang Nyuk Mee, or 生肉面 in Chinese), is an iconic food of Sabah. In literal translation, Sang Nyuk means Raw Pork. Now before you get squeamish, it actually refers to the tender, fresh, smooth meat slices served in soup. Essentially pork noodles but totally Sabah style. Originated from Tawau in 1970s, it’s now popular enough you can find it everywhere in Sabah. It’s a must in Sabah yo!

Tanjung Aru

Beautiful Sunset.

Tanjung Aru

The Tanjung Aru Beach has transformed quite a bit from being hawker stalls to restaurants and beachside cafes. The beach is divided into three sections, beach 1, beach 2 and beach 3. There are plenty of places to eat at Tanjung Aru Beach. Foodstalls here serve food and drinks till late at night. You may opt to choose from enjoying a simple meal of coconut and sugarcane juice with chicken or beef satay or you can also opt for a full-course dinner at the seafood restaurant found here.

Day 2.

Mount Kinabalu here we come!

We carry 3 Carton of ice cold beer go up to the mountain. And we start drinking at 1pm. One hour journey to the Villa. What a HOT sunny day!

Bake Coconut

It was super humid weather with and we were hesitated to stop by but thank goodness we made the right choice and discover one of the best food in Sabah have to offer.

Oh Coconut pudding! OHMAIGAWD This is so so soooooOOOO GOOD! (the weather was too hot and the frozen pudding extremely ease my heat)

Something like scallop but not scallop. Sabah seafood is really FRESH!

Gentle reminder if your driving skill so so, please find someone who have good experience to handle this kind of road. Lol

One hour ride and we’re finally here!

Wondering how many people lost and no found in this forest. Breathtaking*

The mountain here so cooling! And is perfect to have steamboat tonight! wooooooohoooooooo CAN’T WAIT!

Back to earth.

Mount Kinabalu

Legends

Kinabalu’s name is a mystery. The most popular view derives it from the Kadazan words, Aki Nabalu, meaning ‘the revered place of the dead’. The local Kadazan people believe that spirits dwell on the mountain top. According to another folklore, the name Kinabalu actually means Cina Balu which translates into ‘Chinese widow’. Legend goes that a Chinese prince ascended the mountain in search of a huge pearl guarded by a ferocious dragon. After his successful conquest, he married a Kadazan woman. But he soon abandoned her and returned to China. Heartbroken, his wife wandered to the mountains to mourn. There, she turned into stone.

On the other side from the balcony.

We left the house and going somewhere to explore more.

Ok we lost in somewhere.

Oh Cabbage???? So HUGE

Try out sitting at the back of truck to explore natural of forest as my friend suggest. Bumpy road and the strong wind hitting my face so badly. My butt and my fingers not belong to me anymore. Freezing*

Back to villa and having our long awaited steamboat! So thanksful to my Sabah friends

In mountain place, at night time was super cold and all you can do is hold tight your chopstick and eat all you can. Hotpot always the best in this kinda weather.

Day3

Good morning Mount Kinabalu!

We were so lucky can see the all picture of mount Kinabalu. No word describe.

Next stop.

We’re going to find BBQ WILD BOAR!

Sinalau means BBQ and Bakas means wild boar, so you got Sinalau Bakas which means BBQ wild boar meat. It’s a traditional food for one of the Sabah ethnics namely Dusun.

How does it taste like? It tastes similar to char siew but way juicier and tender than char siew. To add into description on how juice it was, I can literary see the meat juice squirting out when the meat was slice into piece. The sinalau bakas texture is closely resemble lamb chop or maybe slightly harder. It’s like a combination of pork and lamb in one meat. Perfect.

Heavenly good!

This is how we rolling on the road. (Under age strictly not allow to do that)

Back to KK town. What’s this?

Kota Kinabalu’s best chee cheong fun. I swear I never ever try Chee cheong fun with ikan bilis. kind of interesting!

Fried noodle!

I don’t remember what is it call? all I knw is a famous noodle in town. noodle with char Siew, slice pork and eggs. Taste not bad

Oh my favorite Chicken Feet!

Yum yummmmmmmm

Time to say goodbye to Sabah. It’s worth to go for a trip. Goodbye Borneo!
