1) DESIGN PROCESS

Design Processed Used for Pop up Ecommerce Store

2)DISCOVER/RESEARCH

  • BROWSED ONLINE STORE
  • SEARCHED WHISK ONLINE TO GATHER INFORMATION
  • SEARCHED YELP TO GET AN IDEA OF WHO IS BUYING WHAT
  • WALKED INTO STORE
Online Store
Information gathered on YELP. What items people were talking about. Male/Female and Age breakdow. Mostly females ages 20/30. Lots of Coffee/Tea items
Visited Store
Local, authentic, exclusive homely NYC feel and vibe to it.

2)PERSONA

  • CHOSE PERSONA BASED OFF BEST BUSINESS OPPERTUNITIES
  • CHOSE PERSONA BASED OFF WHISKS BIGGEST MARKET
Matched up best for the business.

3)Competitive Analysis

Broke down the website. Looked into how they branded their company & who they cater to most.
Compared features between all competitors

DESIGN

1)PERSONA/INSPIRATIONS

Researched Daria’s favored brands and channels to get inspired for the design and layout of the site.

How I Designed for Daria

  • Took inspirations from apparel companies like Urban Outfitters, Diesel, Guess etc for the webpage
  • I was also Inspired by Instagram for the mobile site.

2) PAPER SKETCHES

Hand Sketches for Prototype. Inspired by Apparel Companies.
Another Layout of the home screen I sketched out.
Product Page & Shopping Cart.

3)DIGITAL SKETCHES

Old Version Global Nav and IA. I Removed Store, Gift & Registry, Find Us & Blog from the Global Header and replaced those with item categories to get the user right into browsing products without hitting the store key
The left navigation IA didn’t make the final cut into my useable prototype due to time constraints.

4) PROTOTYPES & FEATURES

Final Version of Home Screen. Made fixes to Global Header. More clear direction for what users want to look for
Added Inventory on Product Page for Daria

TAXONMY
PUT MOST IMPORTANT CATEGORIES FROM LEFT TO RIGHT BASED OFF POPULARITY OF THE PRODUCTS

Detailed Product Information
SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING
ADDED GIFT OPTION FEATURE

THINGS I WANTED TO ADD/FIX BUT DIDN’T HAVE TIME

  • BETTER MICRO INTERACTIONS. I REALLY WANT TO FOCUS ON THIS FOR NEXT TIME
  • NICER BUTTONS
  • CLEAN UP THE AESTHETIC ON THE PAGES AND FIX MINOR GRAPHICAL BUGS AND SIZE PROPORTIONS
  • FIX THE GLOBAL NAVIGATION BAR. ITS TOO SMALL TO READ

5)MOBILE

WHIKS MOBILE SITE. UNSUEABLE
MY MOBILE SITE. USER CAN ACCESS CATEGORIES THROUGH HOME PAGE & HAMBURGER MENU. TAXANOMY IN PLACE FROM MOST TO LEAST OF IMPORTANCT

WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE ADDDED INSTAGRAM LIKE MICRO INTERACTIONS

6) CARD SORTING/SITE MAP

Open Card Sort #1. Categories are close to WHISK
Card Card Sort#2 Was very specific. All Items had own category
Open Card Sort #3 Had commonalities with OCS#1
Semi Open Card Sort Using Whisks Categories. Didn’t have much success. Confusion with Table Top.Removed that category
Very Closed Card Sort using lots of subcategories. Results went as expected.
First Site Map. Feedback was that it was too big. Too many categories & sub categories.
Final Category Site Map. Made it smaller and lumped all cooking/baking under Kitchen. Added Desserts because all users put dessert tools either under bakeware or decorations.

4) USER TEST

All Users Complained about how small my text size was in the global header. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to fix up my most important part of my prototype. Global Header

5) Presentation

This is where my moral hit an all time low on the project. I was about to shed man tears here last Thursday. I worked on it all day long only to scrap it late in the day. I rallied and don’t know what happened but I created a much more cohesive presentation 2 hours later, putting me in the green in the emotional scale.

Presentation Day

I fixed the issues with my last presentation with making it longer. Only issue is that it was a bit too long. I actually had fun up there and was confident in what I was presenting

6)CONCLUSION

I was pretty happy the way things went on this project. I am starting to see the picture here. I know what went well and what didnt

WHAT WENT WELL

How I collected data for the business, persona & competitors

How I broke it down

Business & Persona Empathy

Created something my persona would be happy with

Areas of Opportunity

Understanding of digital programs. I had fun with it but I spent so much time on it. Something I really want to get good in

Presentation. Happy how I improved it, but I am still not there yet

Time documentation. Went well for week 1, but there was too much chaos for week 2

This project was a big learning experience. I felt attached to it and put in lots of love and passion for it. I will take everything I’ve learned here and apply it to Project #3.

Till Next Time
