Clearly the issue of bashing is not confined to the Democratic candidates' online presences, and sex and gender are not exclusive in their deployment as hurtful stereotypes. All campaigns and all media outlets should unite in a call for civility in discourse, as did President Obama just a couple of days ago in his address to the Illinois legislature. In it, he even invoked Lincoln’s famous statement “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
