  1. Nobody cares. Really, nobody cares. People have their own problems, and could care less whether your dad was black or a Diplodocus, just as long as you don’t block them in in the supermarket parking lot. The girl who asked to touch your hair forgot about it 5 seconds later. You’re still twisted up about it. Freedom is understanding that fundamentally, nobody cares.
  2. Sorry about your identity issues. Back in the day, they used to refer to this sort of thing as being a “tragic mulatto.” In today’s America, the only people who obsess over being of mixed ancestry are the ones who don’t have any other sort of identity going for them besides the racial.
