Fresh Start_2.9: McCutchen to the Yankees
Just when you start to question Brian Cashman; he makes you believe again. The Lance Lynn and Luke Voit deals have looked like smart moves. Lynn has given you exactly what you want in rotational depth and Voit has solved the problem of “who’s going to play first base” by squeezing every ounce out of this opportunity.
Then Cashman goes out and gets the missing piece in the outfield since the Judge injury. The Yankees last night after a gut-wrenching loss finalized a deal with the San Francisco Giants getting Andrew McCutchen.
The Giants will receive Abiatal Avelino and Juan De Paula who are the Yankees #23 and 26 prospects respectively.
McCutchen this season is hitting .255 with 15 homers, 55 RBI’s, and .357 OBP. McCutchen comes just in time to help sure up the right field spot until Judge comes back. Cashman brings in a veteran presence who will help the clubhouse with or without Judge in the lineup. The Yanks can also now treat Giancarlo Stanton as a true DH. With the rosters expanding tomorrow and Clint Frazier on a rehab assignment, the Yankees can truly unless the powers of this lineup when Stanton is the full time DH. With Stanton’s hamstring injury still lingering having a full nine players with an extra outfielder on the bench, is what the team should have been doing all along.
The ways of late April and early May can soon become a reality again with McCutchen being added to the club.
