First Ever Blockchain Competition In Cameroon — A Community-Focused Initiative
Startups, developers and entrepreneurs are invited to propose solutions to real-life challenges in Africa, among nine categories.
Douala, September 25, 2018 — Be-Bound is proud to announce the first blockchain startup competition in Cameroon, in collaboration with Will & Brothers — the fast-growing company that created DroneAfrica, and Société Générale’s Innovation Lab, especially dedicated to initiatives from Societe Generale’s African subsidiaries.
Applicants will be given 9 categories to choose from between Blockchain, Healthcare, Education, AI, Software, Hardware, eCommerce, IoT, and Agriculture and will submit information illustrating their app project. The competition opens for applications on September 25th, and close October 17th. Finalists will be announced on October 20th, and invited to participate in the two-day hackathon which will take place on October 27th and 28th, 2018 at the Activspaces Incubator.
Developers taking part in the challenge will integrate Be-Bound Augmented Connectivity, which extends the reach of apps, giving them constant connectivity wherever a mobile network is on, whatever the internet bandwidth, even if not available. With Cameroon’s infrastructure, this means the projects presented during this competition could reach more than 92.5% of the population across the country.
By offering this unique technology to developers and upcoming businesses of Cameroon, Be-Bound is taking one more step towards its promise to bring connectivity “to the last mile”. The goal of the competition is to foster, promote and support the young minds and ideas of local developers and entrepreneurs. “We’re looking for solutions to real life challenges. In this case, Cameroonians will be change makers for the people of Cameroon. We strongly believe in local talent!” — François Stephan, VP Sales & Innovation, Be-Bound.
A Be-Bound representative, Samuel Victor IYABI, will provide support at the event as one of the Google Developer Group community leaders of Douala. This opportunity is free to enter and open to all Cameroon startups and developers wishing to participate. Transport fees will be covered for any Cameroonian startups not based in Douala and for finalists of the challenge.
Three prizes will be awarded to the winners of the challenge, including:
- 1 year of technical support from Be-Bound, with access to the SDK, integration of Be-Bound’s Augmented Connectivity into the winning project, mentoring from Be-Bound’s Head of Deployment and support team.
