Saratoga Automobile Museum to auction off a chance to ride alongside racing legend Mario Andretti at its exhibit at the New York International Auto Show

SARATOGA SPRINGS and NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 28, 2018) — As part of the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s exhibition at this year’s New York International Auto Show, the Museum has announced that auto show visitors can bid to have a chance to win a ride with legendary race driver Mario Andretti.

Andretti is considered one of the most successful Americans in the history of racing. He remains the only driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500, and Formula One World Championship. He is also the last American to win a Formula One race, which he did in 1978. He is also the only driver to win IndyCar races in four different decades.

Rides will be available at America’s premier racetracks during their respective Verizon IndyCar Series weekend (subject to availability), including Pocono Raceway, better known as the Tricky Triangle. The auction winner will be riding with Andretti in a two-seat open wheel race car at speeds of up to 180 miles per hour. It is sure to be a thrilling experience like no other.

“We are so excited to auction off such an exclusive prize. The chance to ride with Mario Andretti is something you will certainly never forget. Come visit us at the New York International Auto Show to check out our beautiful classic car exhibit, and place your bid,” said Carly Connors, executive director, Saratoga Automobile Museum.

Additionally, the centerpiece of the Museum’s exhibition will be the 1994 Newman/Haas Lola T9400 Indy Car, originally piloted by American racing legend Mario Andretti in his final year of competition. The car marked the culmination of Andretti’s 12 seasons with the Newman/Haas Team and was given to him by Paul Newman and Carl Haas as a retirement gift.

The silent auction will run from March 30 through April 8, 2018 at the Museum’s exhibition, which will be located in the South Concourse of the Javits Convention Center.
