Last month, a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida sparked a national debate about gun control. The most active of voices has been those of the survivors of the incident who are calling for stricter gun laws. Two weeks ago, Iowa City High School students walked out of class and walked almost two miles to the University of Iowa to protest gun control. I sat down with The Daily Iowan’s EPI Editor, Madeline Neal, on Facebook Live to find out what her thoughts were on the current political climate surrounding gun control, the local impacts students are having, gubernatorial candidates’ responses and her prediction on how the topic of gun control with effect the political climate in upcoming election cycles.
