Jerry,
In my state of NC, because of the very close Governors race, we already did all this checking for you (that is, specifically our GOP already did all this checking for you.)
I thought this was about States Rights, Control of Federal Overreach and do not trust the Government.
Let me guess, your response would be, just not this one time. Afterall, if the Fed has to pass more voting restrictions based on Kobach’s findings (the inventer of the joke Cross Check that he has sold to GOP States that have found it more expensive to use, and gives a statistically unusable results of false positives) I think you will find many states, including GOP controlled states will sue.
Remember, National ID was something that Bush actually campaigned against. After 9/11, the government played with the idea, they settled on what would constitute as Federal ID. It is on the books. States like Texas have chosen not to be in compliance for one reason or another. (VT has cost issues.)
