With summer coming to a close, it’s time to start thinking about a winter workout wardrobe. There’s nothing worse than skipping out on the gym because you don’t have anything suitable to wear. You want to be warm and comfortable, but also stylish. No one wants to be bundled in tonnes of layers when they’re trying to do cardio as we all know you’ll just be throwing it in a pile on the floor and inconveniencing other gym goers. If you’re heading outdoors for your workout, getting the right layers is even more essential as you don’t want to be too cold or carrying your extra layers as this is only going to slow you down. Before you hit the shops, it’s worth doing your research to make sure you’ve got all the essential components of a autumn/winter workout wardrobe…

Gym Hoodie

You can’t move for fitted hoodies and muscle fit hoodies this season, and they are really the essential item to take you into the winter. You can throw one on over your workout gear on the way to the gym and then wear it during your warm down to get the most out of your workout. You might feel warm when you finish your workout, but if you head out into the cold without a workout hoodie, you’re only going to slow down your recovery.

Gym Sweats

You might wear shorts or workout tights at the gym, but no one wants to head outdoors in the cold wearing shorts or tights in winter. A good pair of track pants can take you from the toasty confines of your home to the gym without any drama. We all need a good pair of comforting sweat pants in the winter months to make it easier to head out in the cold and the rain.

Decent socks

If you’re training outdoors, you’re not only going to be dealing with sweat but you might also be worried about rainwater soaking through your shoes. A good pair of socks will keep your feet warm and dry in the winter months and help to keep you out on the track or field for longer.

Base layers

In the winter months, your muscles won’t perform as well if you’re too cold or too warm. During the transition months, this can wreak havoc on your workout routine, so invest in a good set of base layers sooner rather than later. These can be combined with compression gear to help you perform better and recover faster.
