Here’s to the Dads

Here’s to the dads. Who get up 5 days a week, sometimes 6, to put in over 60 hours of work to support their families. Here’s to the dads who took jobs they didn’t want because if it bought food for their family then the paycheck was good enough. Here’s to the dads who work overtime. Who leave while everyone is sleeping and come home when it’s dark. Here’s to the dads who stepped up, and to the ones who stepped in. Who go to work when it’s raining, when it’s snowing, when they’re sick and when their bodies ache. Who put dreams on hold. Who sacrifice for their families. Who’ve worked the same job for 30 years. Here’s to the dads who don’t complain. Who never bring home the frustrations of work. Who told us stories at bedtime and helped us with our nightly prayers. Here’s to the dads who worked every shift, who took 2nd and 3rd jobs, and kept working when they got home. Here’s to the builders, the salesmen, the factory workers, the janitors, and the truck drivers. Here’s to the dads who humbled themselves to feed their families. Here’s to the dads whose greatest gift was stability. Whose constant strength often goes unnoticed.
We fight, we don’t agree, you let us down sometimes, and we let you down. Sometimes you hurt us and don’t fix things we need fixed. But I want you to know I am grateful. For the courage I see in you. To keep going. I see and feel the pain you endure and push through everyday. I know you do it for us. Thank you. Thank you daddy.
Cheers.
