Franchisee for Buffalo Wild Wings
Locations: 41 stores in Michigan, Louisiana, Boston, Chicago
One of both the original and largest Buffalo Wild Wings franchisees in the country, JK&T Wings operates 41 stores in Michigan, Boston, Chicago and Louisiana. The group has seen significant growth in the last few years, especially within its draft beer segment.
“At the start, our stores would typically feature 20–24 taps of draft beer,” said Brian Carmody, Chief Operating Officer of JK&T Wings. “Now our stores have 40, 50, sometimes 60 draft lines. Draft beer has become a priority and critical cost-center for our company.”
With the expansion in the number of draft lines per location, monitoring waste, efficiency and beer cost are at a premium, said Carmody.
“BeerBoard has helped us manage each location and each bartender more efficiently,” he said. “We are pouring more beer, along with a growing number of brands and styles. From a sales standpoint, we can monitor how each brand is performing and make the right decisions on what to put on tap.”
A BeerBoard client since 2008, JK&T Wings is always on the lookout for what is coming next within the industry. “With our growth as a company and, specifically, the growth in number of taps in each restaurant, it is important for us to be on the cutting edge,” said Carmody. “BeerBoard has provided outstanding technology and allowed us to evolve with the draft beer category.”
Over the next few months, JK&T Wings will introduce BeerBoard Display at its locations. An integrated digital display system, it allows guests to instantly see what’s on tap through the use of digital menu screens.
“BeerBoard Display will help us advertise inside the four walls. Our guests will be able to explore the beer menu with more detail,” Carmody offered. “The fact Buffalo Wild Wings corporate supports this technology and the rollout speaks to the new way our guests seek information. We can reach our guests more effectively. It will allow us to sell more beer and sell it more efficiently.”
Before we let Brian move on, he was asked the all-important question: What is he drinking right now? “It is a local beer — Perrin Black by Perrin Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids,” he said.
