How to Play Beer Pong

The game is called beer pong. Although, some people refer to it as Beirut. Either way, it is a drinking game, but some would consider a sport even. This would not be too incorrect of a claim because there is an official beer pong tournament held (aptly named the “World Series of Beer Pong), in which beer pong players (or athletes) compete for the ultimate prize of $50 000 (the prize value varies slightly though). So, for this reason, you could be forgiven for calling beer pong a sport.

I will go briefly into how to play beer pong, the rules, and offer some tips. At least two players are needed to play (a minimum of one on each end of the table). About ten cups are then placed in front of each team. Place the cups in a triangular formation, then you are ready to get the game started. The main objective in a game of beer pong is to get the beer pong ball (which is often just a ping pong ball) into your opponent’s cups. To get the ball in there, you could either toss it in, or bounce it off the table into the cup.

Once a ball lands in a cup, the content of the cup (often beer) has to be consumed, then the cup has to be removed from play. Taking turns, the players attempt to eliminate all the opposition’s cups. The ‘last man standing’ is declared the winner. Just a quick note, the cups should not be filled with alcohol, just fill about 1/3 of the cup. Also, it is a very bad idea to use hard liquor; light beers would be the wisest choice!

There is something called a ‘redemption’. This could occur right after your last cup has been eliminated. This is how it works: after your last cup has been hit, you could then attempt a redemption, whereby you have to immediately respond by successfully eliminating all of your opponent’s remaining cups. Once that happens, the game goes into overtime, where three cups are used instead of ten.

These are just some of the rules that apply to beer pong. We certainly have more rules and beer pong tips to help elevate your game. We hope you find them useful!
