How To Be Happy…

My washing machine quit spinning the other day.

Laundry piles up pretty quickly in a house with 6 people. My kids have more clothes than Oprah. Not surprisingly, they are not hanging neatly according to color in a room-sized closet.

The good news is, the appliance repair guy is coming today. I don’t have a fancy front-loader. Just a regular Kenmore single drive top-loader so I’m optimistic that he’ll be able to fix it.

It’s amazing how a broken thing around the house makes you appreciate simple things even more. Funnier how a broken appliance (vacuum cleaner, washing machine, dishwasher) makes you use that appliance with joy when it’s fixed~at least for a little while.

So, today, just for this split second, think about something that’s working in your life. In my case, the cars, the dishwasher, the toilets (one was clogged a few weeks ago), the furnace, the faucets, the stove, the refrigerator.

I know, I named a bunch of material things but I happen to appreciate them at the moment. If you want to dive into the people, relationships and work stuff that’s working-go for it!
