Everything you ever asked about the LEAF — answered!
Once upon a time, there was an idea. The idea was to create a powerful device that would help women track their sleep, activity, menstrual cycle and cope with stress more efficiently through breathing exercises. Also, the idea was to put all of these amazing features into a beautifully designed piece of jewelry. A challenging idea to say the least, but if there’s anything we love here at Bellabeat, it’s a good challenge.
The idea soon became the LEAF — the world’s smartest piece of jewelry.
We made the first two batches and they were sold out almost instantly, they’re being shipped to early-bird buyers as we speak, and there’s a waitlist for the third batch.
We made a lot of LEAFs, we sold them all and we know all of you have a lot of questions about the product. That’s why we gathered the most frequently asked questions about the LEAF and put them all in one place. Here we go:
Why is it taking so long?
Good things take time, and when it comes to the LEAF, we didn’t want to make it just good — we wanted to make it perfect. We wanted to make sure that once you do get the LEAF, you get a high-quality product you’ll use and love.
When will the LEAF ship?
The first batch already started to ship and every last one of the LEAFs from said batch will ship by July 15. The second batch will ship by end of July, as promised.
Why aren’t you shipping all of the LEAFs from the first batch at once?
Due to high demand, we simply can’t ship all the LEAFs on the same day and that’s why it’s taking a bit longer than we expected. We know it can be annoying, but the demand exceeded our supply at a certain point and we needed time to catch up. As soon as they leave the factory, they’re in the mail and on their way to you. It’s “first come, first served” here at Bellabeat.
How will I know my LEAF has shipped?
Once your LEAF has shipped, you will get a confirmation email with the tracking number and other shipping details.
Why are people who ordered the LEAF through third-party sellers getting it before others?
We ship the LEAF by the time of your pre-order, without exception. If you ordered it first, you’ll get it first — if a third party seller ordered it first, they will.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Yes you can, and you can do so at any time. We always enable our customers to cancel their pre-orders and if you wish to do so, just contact our support team at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will sadly cancel your pre-order.
When will the Rose Gold LEAF be available?
The Rose Gold LEAF will be available for pre-order on August 1.
Does the LEAF come with a necklace or a bracelet?
Every LEAF from the first and second batch come with a free necklace and a free bracelet. That way, you can choose how you wear your LEAF depending on what suits you best.
Is the LEAF waterproof?
The LEAF is splash resistant, but not waterproof. This means it can handle day-to-day challenges successfully like drops of water when you’re washing your hands, sweating, even hot yoga classes!
Does the metal contain nickel? I ask because I’m allergic and so are many others.
The clasp is made of nickel-free, hypoallergenic stainless steel and all of the materials used for the LEAF are treated with natural colors. When you wear the LEAF, you don’t have to worry about allergies.
The battery only lasts for 6 months. Will I have to buy a new LEAF every 6 months?
No, you’ll just have to get a new battery. You can easily replace it with a standard coin cell battery that is normally used for watches and similar. Those kind of batteries are available in any drugstore like Walgreens or CVS and cost about USD 3. Also, you’ll get a battery replacement tool to make things quick and easy.
I’m worried about radiation. Does the LEAF emit a safe level of emfs?
The LEAF uses a low energy Bluetooth and it only turns on the Bluetooth and connects to the app when you want to sync the data with the app so there is no radiation throughout the day or night. The connection only lasts for a few seconds while the app syncs with the LEAF. The LEAF has been thoroughly tested and it’s a completely safe device that has been both FCC and CE approved and has reached highest quality standards. Also, the LEAF has enough memory for 14 days of data storage, so you don’t have to sync it every day.
Can the LEAF remind me to get up if I’ve been inactive for too long?
Yes, it can! The inactivity alert has five different levels of desired activity — you just pick what suits you best in a certain situation and the LEAF will remind you to get up and stretch if you’ve been inactive for too long. There’s a “Do not disturb” setting as well, so if you’re in a meeting and can’t really get up, the LEAF won’t tell you to.
Will the app cost money?
No, the LEAF app is free and it always will be.
Will I be able to sync the LEAF to other apps I’m using?
We will open up our API soon so you will be able to use the LEAF with other apps too. This means you will only need to update the firmware on your LEAF through the app and you will be able to use the device you already have. We plan to add the following features to the new versions of the app: different sports tracking, nutrition tracking, detailed sleep cycles tracking, further advice according to your preferences. You’ll be the first to know about every feature.
We love all of your questions because they help us make the LEAF experience even better, but there were some questions and comments that not only helped us improve our service — they also made us laugh. These are our favorites:
It tracks your menstrual cycle, but can the LEAF make tampons magically appear?
The LEAF cannot make tampons magically appear, but it CAN remind you to buy tampons when it sees you’ll get your period soon. You can set the smart alarm to remind you of things you sometimes forget — that way, you’ll never be out of tampons or miss a pill again!
Tracks your breathing, activity and menstrual cycle… sounds like my creepy ex!
But unlike the creepy ex, the LEAF is actually good for your health and can help you reduce stress.
Can the LEAF make me a sandwich?
No, but it can count how many calories you’ve spent during the day so you won’t feel bad if you had too many of them.
