Thank you so much, Mike. You’re right, we can ask “what if” questions, but we will never know the answers to them, so we have to just look at what happened, case by case, and determine if there is a crime there or not. I also think much could be done in the way of de-escalating situations before they become volatile. Even I have had some not-so-nice encounters with police officers just being pulled over for traffic violations, and I was brought up to say “sir”, keep my hands on the wheel, etc etc when being pulled over. I never resent being pulled over or given a ticket when I’ve broken the law, but the way some cops try to intimidate people seems to be just asking for trouble.
