What We Talk About, When We Don’t Talk About Natives
Dia Lacina

It makes sense that you would only see the Native American or Aboriginal influences on the one group in this game without seeing the equally obvious Celtic and Norse and Viking influences. After all, you identify as Native but don’t identify as Viking or Norse or Celtic.

But yes, this game, and even the one “tribe” you are singling out, borrows from much more than just Native American culture, which hardly has a monopoly on being “savage,” “tribal,” “brave,” or “primitive.”

I suppose it’s just a shame that there are no Vikings around to complain on behalf of their own culture’s “appropriation” and glorification.
