Basic

  • Position: Small forward
  • From: Orlando, FL
  • Current team: Ohio State
  • Height: 6-foot-6
  • Weight: 235 pounds
  • Wingspan: 6-foot-10

Stats

  • 24.5 minutes per game in 2022–23, featuring in 33 matches (21 starts.)
  • Averaged 16.3 points on 48% shooting, with 5.4 boards and 1.2 assists.
  • Took 4.5 3-pointers per game, averaging 40.5% of makes.
  • Shot 52.3% on all 2-point attempts.
  • Got to the charity stripe 3 times per game, making 2.5 attempts (83%.)

Strengths

  • He’s a solid ball handler who hits a good amount of contested shots, but doesn’t create that much separation with dribbles. He is a midrange guy who can extend his range, and has averaged over 40% of 3-point attempts this season.
  • Best when shooting off the catch, and has smooth mechanics with some upside to be able to hit 3’s off movement. He can fluidly get to his shot when relocating.
  • He can back down defenders in the post and use his strength to get to a perfect position for a shot, which is great against switching defenses.
  • He’s OK off the ball, and does cut to the basket often. He’s great at running in transition and filling the lanes.
  • Not the best playmaker, only averaging 1.2 assists on the season but he has shown flashes. He’s had a game with seven assists this season for example, with most of his dimes coming by finding rollers and cutters. He can improve his playmaking.

Weaknesses

  • Two large injuries mean he’s not a great athlete. While teams could be worried about his injury proneness, he has suffered as an athlete because of it and doesn’t have much burst off the dribble and struggles to finish above-the-rim.
  • He struggles to create much separation using dribbles, and he might struggle to be efficient in the NBA because of it. College hoops is different, and while he may make tough shots now it doesn’t mean he will in the NBA, being guarded by tougher defenders.
  • He isn’t a fantastic defender, and Ohio State started him from the bench because of his defense. He fouls too often with 2.5 fouls a game (on 24.5 minutes per game) and lacks quickness on the ball and perhaps his weight (235 pounds) could be an issue too.
  • Not a great off-ball defender who doesn’t show much prowess and regularly loses track of his man. Teams will attack him in the NBA.

Clips

The following are some clips of Brice Sensabaugh’s game.

Draft projection

Brice Sensabaugh is one of the best offensive shooters in the draft, he averages 40% from the 3-point range as a small forward and has a dangerous midrange game. However, he struggles to create his own shot off the dribble and he’s not the best athlete. He struggles on the defensive end and will be targeted by NBA teams if he defends as he did at Ohio State. With that said, the shooting is a major positive and a good pro for teams to take with them in scouting. He’s projected to be a late first-round pick, anywhere from 19–28.
