I had a classmate in primary school who had it. I remember how difficult it was for him when it flared up. The teacher explained to us that it's rare for a child to have it, and that it is not contagious. That was after some stupid parents complained to the school that we would all get it from him. And, because of that, most children were avoiding him or didn't want to sit next to him.
