I happily welcome insults from deranged reactionaries like Caitlin Johnstone — an astrology writer turned Pizzagate truther who explicitly calls for “forming coalitions” with far-right Trump supporters.
The irony is much of her piece attacking me is devoted to rehabilitating and defending Mike Cernovich, a “white genocide” myth-peddling, overtly racist, anti-immigrant bigot; a rape apologist and “MRA” misogynist; a US jingoist who identifies as a proud “nationalist” of a settler-colonial state founded on genocide and slavery.
None of this is to even mention the fact that Cernovich paid unabashed neo-Nazi Baked Alaska to tweet, or that he in October 2015 openly called himself “alt-right” (before rebranding for opportunistic reasons).
These people are the enemy; they, just like Trump himself (whom they lionize), are the grotesque embodiment of the very system we are fighting — capitalism, imperialism, white supremacy, and patriarchy.
There is nothing “anti-establishment” about any of these far-right figures. They love the “establishment”; they just want it to be even more brutal, and less restrained, in its capitalist, imperialist, white supremacist, and patriarchal violence.
If Johnstone were actually on the political left (which she most definitely is not), she would immediately recognize that.
