Since joining Miami, Florida-based H.I.G. Capital as an equity associate in 2014, Benjamin Spacapan has overseen several growth opportunities across varying market sectors. Outside of his professional life, Benjamin Spacapan follows the NBA and is a fan of the Chicago Bulls.

Even though the Bulls acquired Rajon Rondo and Dwayne Wade during the summer, it appears the team is still looking to make a big free agent splash.

Numerous media reports indicate that the Bulls plan to aggressively pursue Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin this season — either through a deal before the trade deadline, or by signing him as a free agent next summer.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reports that the Bulls are among several suitors who will be vying for Griffin’s services in 2017.

Along with Chicago, Kyler reports that the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Orlando Magic all plan to throw their hats into the ring. These teams could try to work a deal with the Clippers during the season, or court the free agent next summer. If the Bulls were to manage a trade, it would likely come with the proviso that Griffin sign a long-term extension with the team.
