Key to investing in emerging markets.

Emerging markets present a big opportunity in Africa but at the same time, investors are faced with challenges while trying to pursue these opportunities.

At Afrinet Capital, we conduct a through research by trying to understand the investment and business landscape in Africa especially Sub saharan, Africa in a bid to curb this challenge. We evaluate the challenges and seek alternative opportunities in which investors can diversify their portfolios by investing in different asset classes that have been tailor-made to withstand hostile economic conditions and generate a higher return more than the benchmark by over 4000 basis points.

Market intelligence is an aspect that Afrinet Capital considers to be our backbone in our investment strategy that will create a dynamic portfolio which can benefit the company’s shareholders and at the same time build a long lasting reputation with other stakeholders in our global economy at large. We conduct extensive research, establishing and maintaining links and connections with local governments, business men and other stakeholders- this has given us an insulate from stiff competitors from other venture capital firms with interests in the region.

Africa growth is less dependent on its existing natural resources and is increasingly favoured by the improvements in policy coherence and macro economic governance. The continent growth is expected to rebound to 3.7% in 2017 and in 2018 expected to consolidate expanding by 4.3% (Africa Economic Outlook 2017). January 2017 projections from the IMF World economic outlook, show that global economy expanded by 3.1% in 2016 and is expected to develop modestly in 2017 and 2018 reaching 3.4% and 3.6% respectively. Emerging and developing economies, are expected to maintain their growth momentum at 4.1% and are expected to grow at 4.5% and 4.8% in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Many startups in the region present a good growth and prospects having good return on investments, but lack of fundamental and certain technical skills, their growth remains under pressure. Afrinet Capital has created a deep connection between these entrepreneurs and multinational investors to compensate immature entrepreneurial ecosystems.

In this changing environment, having a good understanding of emerging markets is what sets us apart from our competitors. For Afrinet Capital, this strategic approach has allowed us to know what works better by connecting and working with local governments and manager. We are always exploring alternative investment opportunities.
