Your conclusion is superb. It reminded me of a great quote by Lao Tzu, one of my favorite, which said that:

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.”

Indeed. We need to stop regreting the past or fearing the future and live the present moment because we can only live the present. So we better make the most out of it. Our aspirations should guide our future, not our worries. The journey, however, starts now. Right now. In the present.
