This is not a new message but it is one that still doesn’t get through to an unbelievable amount of people in the real estate industry.
It boggles my mind the amount of people that believe that they can become a real estate agent or investor or flipper and have it be some kind of extra part-time hobby, as well as, a successful company.
Honestly, I would like to know what the hell people are thinking when they believe that they can have their own successful real estate business by acting and operating like a part-time CEO.
Crushing reality check people — that’s not how any of this works!
It can be easy to get caught up in the excitement of getting your real estate license and the beginning of your new career.
That excitement can make it easy to forget that you aren’t just starting a new career; you are launching a business.
As a business owner, it is essential that you treat your career as a business and nurture it as such.
If you have been an agent for at least one year and still feel like you are struggling to achieve your goals, you should take a step back and look at your business.
Be honest with yourself; are you running a business or just going through the motions of day-to-day life grasping at straws and praying for success?
Every business needs a plan, and real estate is no different. You don’t necessarily need a huge formal plan like a store owner or restaurateur may have, but you do need a set of goals and an actionable plan for achieving them.
As my hero GaryVee would say…decide what the goal is and then reverse engineer the path to get there.
Stop playing Words With Friends one minute and then turning around and contemplating why you’re not doing more business.
It’s pretty simple really and those that have won the real estate game would tell you, as I am now, the easy way is the fastest way to failure.
Get serious. Stop complaining. Do the work.
