2 Besties Biscuits Mission Statement
- Bringing our fellow pup parents something they can be HAPPY about feeding their fur babies.
- Reducing our PAW print.
BAM- that’s it. Judge us on our biscuits and the impact we have on the world around us.
In all seriousness though….that’s the summary. Here is the long version if you’re bored.
First and foremost, we make our small batch biscuits in a bowl….with a spoon…that’s it. Hand rolled and cut. Then we bake them and bring them to your pooch fresh baked.
Often today the words natural, organic, sustainability and local are used to sell. To draw you in. We are all of those things because we care. We make a conscious effort to use natural ingredients. We buy local from farms and businesses, use USDA Organic ingredients, make our biscuits locally right here in Hannibal, MO AND (drum roll, please) we are on the road to being a sustainable (GREEN) business (insert applause here- that’s not easy, folks). ALL of our efforts mean being aware of labels and our surroundings. That means being proactive about what affects us as humans AND our dogs.
What does sustainable mean? Sustainable business, or green business, is an enterprise that has minimal negative impact on the global or local environment, community or society (we copied that off of the internet so we didn’t have to explain it ourselves). We are doing as many things as possible to be completely sustainable. We are not tree huggers, hippies or hipsters (all of which we think are great things to be). We are 2 besties striving for the happiest, healthiest, best possible life for ourselves, our families and our (that includes YOU) dogs.
We are not doing it ALL. We are just doing as much as we can because we think that’s a great start. We are not riding a bicycle everywhere we go (although we probably should be) and we are not using a wash board to clean our clothes. BUT, we are doing everything by hand. The only electricity used in our baking is via the oven. Often we do not even have the lights on when we bake because the natural light in the kitchen is sufficient. Baby steps.
We recycle paper, plastic and glass (“we” is the blonde…she is in charge of the recycling in this friendship- always has been). When we experience left overs we donate them to the Northeast Missouri Humane Society or give them away to our customers. No waste. Our biscuits are packaged in pink (of course) cardboard boxes that are shopped flat, post consumer, biodegradable, recyclable, compostable, registered as a green product and made in the USA. Our pink food grade tissue is also made in the USA, renewable, recyclable and compostable. Most of our cello bags are biodegradable (we are still working on that “pickle”) and all of them are made in the USA. What if someone is in need of a doggie bag for their purchase? Shopping bags: recyclable paper not plastic (CHECK). We mindfully package our biscuits.
We make our own cleaning products (Unlike our recipes, we did find the cleaning product ideas on Pinterest). Our biscuits are never made near anything that has touched a chemical of any kind. Summer 2017 we will be collecting rain water to feed our garden.
WE ARE DEDICATED TO OUR ONGOING EFFORT OF SUSTAINABILITY.
Keep Calm, HAPPY & Hug a Tree (kidding….well not about the happy part),
