Provably Fair — What does it actually mean?

If you have played at a Crypto Casino before, you will have likely heard this term. But for those that haven’t (and for those that have but maybe still isn’t clear), we will try and break this down as concisely and simply as possible.

Essentially it comes down transparency and fairness. Provably fair games are undeniably and provably fair in the sense that customers have tools at their disposal to validate each spin/bet (after making it), by confirming the randomness of the RNG (Random Number Generator) and by manually inputting bet information to validate that the result displayed on screen correlates with the validated result.

The advocates for Provably Fair games correctly state that for non-provably fair games it is impossible for the USER themselves to be able to test the fairness of the game in realtime, and that generally speaking they need to take the word of others in respect of the fairness of the games. The notion of self/community validation is an important facet of the cryptocurrency movement in general for many. To have the ability to add value as a trusted member of a community to help to ‘validate’ things help improve the overall strength of the network or overall trust in a Provably Fair game.

However on the flip side a large number of players trust the documentation and the validity of the Licences that the major Casino game providers have been awarded. The sheer fact that most of the bigger Casino game providers have had their product certified, reviewed/tested on a multitude of occasions, by a multitude of different regulatory bodies in a multitude of different nations indicates a certain level of trust and fairness to many players. Also there are many people that either simply don’t care, and would prefer to spend their time playing the game, not spend their time validating the fairness of the games, spending time messing around with server seeds and external software.

Both views we respect, and ultimately it comes down to individual preferences and beliefs. Some crypto betters will only play Provably Fair games. Some crypto betters however feel that traditional games offer far more choice and variety, given the longevity and sheer volume of traditional games available.

Whats our prediction at BetKudos?

We predict exponential development of Provably Fair games in the years to come. We anticipate the % gap between Provably Fair vs non-Provably Fair games on the market will narrow, as traditional Casino game providers look to take advantage of a growing trend and look to offer a more diversified selection of products to their customers.

We believe the key to successful Provably Fair games is to involve the community as much as possible. We propose doing this by giving ample opportunities to reward our Community members for their input and ideas around potential game themes, game logic and strategy and designs. More to come on this in the coming months. We view our Community as an external add on to our internal product team. Ultimately we want to give you, the Community what you want.

How do I as a player provably check? (Technically speaking)

In short, the technology provides the option for the player to validate that their spin or hash was truly generated randomly. How?

  1. Each individual bet that you make will provide you with a Bet ID.
  2. Once you click on that Bet ID you can see the full bet information.
  3. This full bet information includes a client seed and a server seed.
  4. Once you now are in possession of the above information you can input the client seed and the server seed into external software to verify that the outcome was the correct one.

Spribe Provably Fair Games Reviews.

We recently made the decision to integrate Spribe games on to our system. Spribe have an excellent selection of Provably Fair games, which blend a mix of new generation and traditional casino games, targeted on Generation Y.

We have reviewed our top 3 Favourite Spribe Provably Fair Games.

1. Aviatar

What is more fun than watching our Aviator, and our profit ascend into the air, growing more in value at every second, knowing that at any moment it could all come crashing down, along with our dreams.

Being able to place 2 separate bets on the same game round at the same time, with ability to modify stake for each is great.

Also the Cash Out feature, or as we like to refer to as the ‘Cool Head’ button (reason being it takes emotion completely out of the equation), is great. It allows us to pre-confirm at which point we want to take profit. This gives us the ability to guarantee some profit on one of our bets, and let the other bet ride a little longer if we choose to risk it for a biscuit.

2. Mines

Mines is based on Minesweeper, an old school classic game that has been present on most computers since the dawn of Windows Computers. Many a detention was given to those poor souls caught playing it during IT class. A moment of silence for them..

Anyway — now you can play Mines for real crypto.

What we like most about the game is the versatility to change the difficulty of the game mode (and as a result the risk of hitting a mine) as we desire.

3. Goal

Do you remember the ‘Gauntlet’ game from the Popular (2000’s) gameshow Gladiators? Maybe maybe not. The point is the game is pretty simple, you need to advance from the 1st section to the last without running into issues. For ‘Goal’ the issues in question are bombs, and again you can choose to play with more or less potential obstacles (with higher or lower potential payouts as a result)
