Bass Masters HS National Championship returns to Bethel

July 21 thru July 25 the Bass Masters High School National Championship will once again return to Henry and Carroll Counties in Northwest Tennessee. Over 150 boats with high school anglers from at least forty five of the lower forty eight states in America will converge on Kentucky Lake, fishing out of Paris Landing State Park near Paris Tennessee and Carroll County’s One Thousand Acre Recreational Lake near Huntingdon, Tennessee. They will compete in the most prestigious High School Bass Fishing tournament of its kind in the country according to Garry Mason, Bethel Bass Team Coach and Director of Tourism for Northwest Tennessee.

“These students will fish for prizes and a chance for two scholarships to become a part of the Bethel University Wildcat Bass Fishing Team along with the Championship trophy. The anglers will win over forty thousand dollars in Bethel scholarship monies to attend Bethel University and fish for the nation’s number one most recognized Bass fishing program in America,” said Mason.

Bethel University will host the Tournament rules meeting on July 21st. Guest speakers include Charlie Ingram, Host of Fishing University fishing television show and Casey Ashley, Bass Masters Elite Series Angler and the 2015 Bass Masters Classic Champion. Bethel University will also host the championship weigh-in on university grounds on Saturday July 25th.

This tournament will also see Junior High Bass anglers competing in Carroll County for their portion of the championship. The high school weigh-in will be held at Paris Landing State Park on the evenings of July 22 and July 23 and the Junior High division weigh-in will be held on July 24th in down town Huntingdon.

Bethel Athletic Director Dale Kelly said, “We are all honored to be a part of such a wonderful and prestigious event, both as the communities that are involved and our University. The national exposure will be generated by having ESPN cameras and Bass Masters on our campus and in our Henry and Carroll County communities and will allow us to expand future opportunities for all.”

“A big thanks to the Henry County Alliance, The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Bethel University for supporting this event,” said David Hamilton of the Henry County Alliance. “A huge amount of gratitude to all of the folks at Bass Masters for bringing this event back to our communities “echoed Carroll County Chamber President Brad Hurley.
