Renaissance Theatre to Present “Next to Normal”

Bethel’s Renaissance Theatre is excited to present our next musical production, “Next to Normal.” This production will take place Sept. 24–27 and Oct. 2–3 at the Bethel Performing Arts Center located at 652 Stonewall Street North in McKenzie.

This award winning production tells the story of a typical American family and how they deal with pain and grief, struggling to make sense of the circumstances of their lives and keep their family strong. As each character battles his or her own demons, this story takes us down a path of dealing with mental illness, fear, loss, and ultimately what holds a family together. A modern rock score, challenging and current thematic material, and intense characters will make this an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Brian Hill, Director of Renaissance Theatre commented, “This show is something new to add to our incredible line-up of shows from the Renaissance Theatre program. I firmly believe that this production will positively impact individuals who have dealt with difficult issues such as addiction, loss, and mental illness. The material is challenging, but I know that audiences will love the story and feel a strong connection to the characters and situations that they are facing. We are all looking for healing and hope, and this story will present a hope-filled view of life and the struggles we face.”

Show times are 7 p.m. except for Sept. 27, when a 2 p.m. matinee will take place. Tickets are only $10. Bethel Faculty, Staff and Students will receive free admission to all performances.
