Those articles do not link to any source besides “representatives” having a meeting or something. You can’t gloss over the fact that Google has still been pushing for Java. Check the N Jack compilation tools and improved support for Java lambdas.
It might also be complex to get to the position they’re now in with Swift. They’re already having a hard time with Instant Run. Swift isn’t even that stable, it’s updates usually have breaking changes. If Google is looking for a change and not forgo the Java ecosystem, Kotlin is something they might give some chance to.
