The Big Booster is unique in a few ways; it focuses on the inherent strenght of the region, namely Life Science and Energy. It has a critical mass, aiming at attracting 100 startups per annual cycle. It also established itself with an International reach: reaching out not only to the Lyon area, but also to other regions in France, to neighboring countries and to Middle East Africa.

The Big Booster program provides startups with access to what they need: training, interaction with other startups, interaction with the Grand Lyon business environment, interaction with program sponsors, and a strong focus on global business through the MassChallenge / Boston connection.

How Big Booster could develop the start-up network at international level?

International startups will be attracted to the added value Lyon has to offer (e.g. its strength in Life Science or Energe), the critical mass — Lyon as the second largest city in France and a major regional hub and the International connectivity. Big Booster and MassChallenge work together in the context of MassChallenge International Bridge Program. This Program provides an opportunity to connect between MassChallenge and International regions such as Grand Lyon and strengthen innovation-driven economic development in the region. MassChallenge will leverage its expertise in world-class startup ecosystem development and consult the Big Booster in developing the Lyon-based program.
