Las Vegas Construction: Tenaya Ridge at Mountains Edge Las Vegas — Part One
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGNn7SIQW1E
Have you seen the new construction in one of Las Vegas’s newest areas Mountains Edge?
Tenaya Ridge is being built by Cal Atlantic off of Mountains Edge Parkway. Since the Cal Atlantic website does not have any information about the homes at the time we have little information about the community in construction at the moment. Though, we are assuming that these homes will be 3 story homes as they have promised rooftop decks on the community information billboard outside of the construction site.
As you can see in the above video there is still many weeds and bushes on this land, as they are in the very beginning stages of grading the land to prepare the lots and roads so they can start the building process.
The Home Building Process
The home building process isn’t one that all are familiar with, so lets talk about it. Let’s make it simpler than most.
Step One: Dirt Work
This is when the big tractors come in and move all the dirt around; form lots, roads.. contour the dirt and the land to be what is needed for the community.
Step Two: Underground Work
In this step they dig up the ground from the street so they can lay all the piping, water lines, sewer,
power. Any utilities that you use in your homehas to be placed in the underground work so that it can get to your home specifically once they get to that part in the process.
Step Three: The Footing And Foundation
This is the first step in building each individual home. This is where they pour footings and put down the foundation of the first level of your home.
Step Four: Putting Up The Sticks
This step is where they frame the whole house. They frame the house with lumber. This is where the floor plan of the home is put into effect. They frame out all the rooms, closets, bathrooms, windows, openings and stairs that will be in the home.
Step Five: Utilities Within the Home
This is when all of the different utilities you use in your house get ran to your home specifically. Things like: plumbing, power, water, sewer, cable, DirecTV, alarm, surround sound.
Step Six: Stack the Roof
Here they place the roof over the home.
Step Seven: Drywall
One of the last things they do is place the drywall on the home. They have to make sure all the framing is correct, all the utilities are all the way through the home so that it is functional, and that nothing needs to be changed before the drywall goes up.
Step Eight: The Finishing Touches
The final step in the home building process is when they do all the things that you see everyday; flooring, cabinets, paint, sinks, toilets, light fixtures.

The Importance of New Home Building
New homes are always something that is in demand because of the growing rate of the population, there is always someone that is looking to purchase their first home. Though for their first home they might not want a brand new home, the previous owners of the home the first time home buyers now own probably do. The growing population in Las Vegas doesn’t always have to do with new babies, but half the time it is about the people who move to Las Vegas looking to work, whether it be on the strip or in construction. Sometimes people just look at the home they have lived in for 20 years and decide that they want a change so they purchase a new home that they are able to customize to exactly what they want.
