I’m stunned to read this.

I won’t disagree with you, you heard a difference on your gear and that is all that counts. Our listening sessions were pretty informative and I was not even aware that my Son was writing his article until he actually wrote this blog. My part of this A / B test had to do with me seeking perfection with my streaming. I play mostly vinyl, CDs, and SACD’s. I wanted to stream the highest resolution with my on line streaming. So this was my goal….

I signed up for Tidal and we listened to a large sampling of music, and comparing the two stations in those two days. It was as clear as a bell on my gear that the Apple Music was better 90 % of the time, not just a little difference, but big enough for me to end my Tidal account. It was that clear to three of us; that Apple Music was superior.

As an audiophile and music lover, I avoid debates and telling others what they experienced must be wrong or flawed. My point is that I respect what you heard, and what your results were. I know what we heard and it helped me select one online streaming account, and Apple was giving me great playback results on my system. There are so many options for us now, we can all win by selecting the flavor of sound, musical content, etc.

Chad’s article was based on our results and I believe he did a great job with his test, and his process was pretty simple and fair. The results from this small test that we did was to help me decide what channel to select. We both heard the difference and it was a huge shock for both of us!

I appreciate your feedback on this test and your results as well. Maybe the equipment has something to do with the results? I do believe that the music industry has been engineering the music to sound best on boom boxes, and on Beats gear. So the music has been manipulated to sound best on this kind of gear. Actually all music has to be manipulated to actually play back on all of the gear that is being used world wide. This is just my opinion and I have nothing to back up my theory, other than the many articles I have read regarding the music industries methods of selling to the new young buyer who uses Beats etc.

As far as Jitter and Slop, I am not able to actually hear these two flaws in the playback loop. I hear these terms a lot and what I can hear is music that has been compressed too much, and music that has been engineered with too much volume and not enough of the actual session when it was recorded.
