There’s a very large swath of people who still believe (IMO, correctly) that George Carlin’s “7 Words You Don’t Say on TV” is still a reasonable guideline for unacceptable use of words in public.

Yes, I know some will object strenuously to this. TV has long since abandoned that standard (for the most part), especially cable shows. Decency has been dumbed down to the point of non-existence. But as a public speaker, it doesn’t hurt to be careful. If a presenter/speaker is unable to deliver a message without using foul language, they probably need some help with public speaking.
