If you gave a TED or TEDx talk or

your podcast is on YouTube or

you were a guest speaker on a business conference, podcast or a TV show, and the video is on YouTube

you are sitting on a lot of content that can be shared on your LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, WhatsApp, and so many other social media platforms.

Often speakers give golden nuggets when they are on stage but then

❌ they don’t maximise their visibility by spreading their message to a wider audience.

❌ It stays on that stage and in that YouTube video ..

which means that speakers are often working hard to position themselves in front of their audience or new market without using the low hanging fruits of their work, i.e. content that is already on YouTube.

What you will learn in this article goes for TED and TEDx talks as well as any video that is on YouTube.

However, there is something VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW!

❗️TEDx rules allow a share of 30 seconds talks excerpts ONLY!

❗️For any other videos you can clip the maximum allowed by YouTube, which at the moment is 1 minute clip.

Once you post the excerpt on your social media channels and people click on the video,

❗️they will watch that specific part of the YouTube video and if they are interested

❗️they will have option to click and watch the full video.

In other words, what Im showing you today will increase the views of your original video❗️

Here are

the 4 easy steps on how to share a YouTube video excerpt on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest:

STEP 1: Open your video on YouTube

click the ‘✂️ Clip’ button below your video

STEP 2: Clip the video

2.1. Add a Title for your excerpt.

IMPORTANT: the title (description) you add here will overwrite the original title of the YouTube video.

This new description is ONLY for this excerpt you are posting at the moment. Nothing will change on the original video!

Make the text as short as possible, otherwise people will only part of your text here

2.2. Select which part of your video you want to clip out

2.3. Click ‘Share clip’ button

STEP 3: Select where you want to share the video clip — LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and so on

NOTE: this screen will stay open. Whichever social media you select here will open in a new window tab.

This will give you option to share the same clip and title to all the media platforms you want, without the need to repeat steps 1 and 2

STEP 4 | LINKEDIN: Share on LinkedIn

4.1. Click on ‘Share in a post

4.2. Add your text as you usually create a copy for your post

4.3. Add 3 hashtags.

TIP 1: use one hashtag for your audience, one hashtag for your topic and one hashtag for the problem / solution that this clip is covering.

TIP 2: use one small, one medium and one big hashtags. Do you know how to check that? Type in the comment below if not so I can explain it

4.4. Notice how your text for a new title overwrote the original title of the YouTube video and have a ✂️ emoji in front of the new title. That’s how you and everyone watching know that this is a clip out of an original YouTube video

4.5. Press the ‘Post’ button once you are ready. It will post on your LinkedIn wall and give you option to go see the post

STEP 4 | TWITTER: Share on Twitter

4.1. Go back to step 3 — the opened YouTube screen, where you can select another platform to share on. Select Twitter.

4.2. Add your Tweet text

4.3. Press the ‘Tweet’ button

STEP 4 | FACEBOOK: Share on Facebook

4.1. Go back to step 3 — the opened YouTube screen, where you can select another platform to share on. Select Facebook.

4.3. Select your personal Facebook profile or your Business page. If you want to post on both you need to do it one by one for each profile or page.

4.2. Add your post text

4.3. Add 10–15 hashtags

TIP 1: use few hashtag for your audience, few hashtag for your topic, few hashtag for the problem, few hashtags for the solution that your video talks about.

TIP 2: use several small, several medium and several big hashtags. Do you know how to check that? Type in the comment below if not so I can explain it

4.4. (Optional) You can tag people, add location, add a feeling

4.5. Select at the bottom the radio buttons, where you want to post — on our feed only, on your story only or both

4.6. Press the ‘Post on Facebook’ button

STEP 4 | PINTEREST: Share on Pinterest

4.1. Go back to step 3 — the opened YouTube screen, where you can select another platform to share on. Select Pinterest.

4.2. Select which board you want to share the clip
